Types of Ticks in Texas
There are several species of ticks in Texas, two common tick species that might sound familiar to local homeowners are the Lone Star tick and American Dog tick. When dealing with local species it is important to understand that ticks do not fly, they must climb on to their host to begin their feeding. Which means they usually lay and wait for their host to walk by so they can climb on board.
